Coach Ortenzi graduated from Wyomissing Area High School (PA), lettering in football, baseball and basketball.   He went on to attend Penn State University where he took up the game of volleyball and played 3 years of club ball in State College.   Joe graduated from Penn State with a dual major, earning a degree in Elementary Education and Physical Education.  Upon graduation, Joe began teaching in West Palm Beach, FL, teaching middle school Math and PE for 8 years.  During his eight years in Florida, he coached both his school team and JO volleyball teams, earning 4 conference titles and numerous gold victories of the course of his tenure.

Coach Joe relocated to Northeast Ohio with his wife in 2011 and continued his coaching of volleyball at Strongsville Center Middle School as well as Southwest Volleyball Club.   For club volleyball, Joe coached ages 13 through 18, and while in his first two years with Strongsville, his teams won back-to-back NOCMSL Championships. suffering one loss during those 2 years.

This year will be Coach Ortenzi's 4th year with Medina teaching Physical education at Waite Elementary. While this is his first head varsity position, Joe brings over 15 years of coaching experience (13 in volleyball) including serving as the Medina Girls Basketball freshman coach for two years. Coach Ortenzi is dedicated to the city and school district of Medina and is looking forward to taking on and building a strong volleyball program.
