Here's just a small sampling of the projects sponsored by the Medina Athletic Boosters
NEW SCOREBOARDS AT KEN DUKES, MEMORIAL
The Medina Athletic Boosters are proud to announce the newest additions to the Battling Bees athletic facilities. We have brand new, state of the art scoreboards at both Ken Dukes Stadium and Memorial Field as of September, 2021. Thanks to our four premier platinum sponsors, Amy Hoes from EXP Realty, the Cleveland Clinic, North Gateway Tire, and Serpentini Chevy, the Medina athletic facilities will be able to bring our fans a totally new experience never before seen or heard at a Battling Bees venue.
“The Medina Athletic Booster board is incredibly excited to help secure these new scoreboards and sound systems for both stadiums,” said former Boosters President Tom Delac.“The current soccer board is in disrepair and is a much needed improvement. The scoreboard system at Dukes will not only support football, but also soccer, lacrosse, track as well as Marching Band events. Upgrading these scoreboards will allow the athletic department to host more events at our facilities, thus generating more revenue for the district. And these new boards will help us promote all of the amazing sponsors that allow the Boosters to purchase new uniforms and equipment for all of our high school and middle school athletes. We can't thank our sponsors enough for their support and appreciate the partnership with Dr. Quallich and the district in recognizing these much needed facility upgrades
MEDINA BOOSTERS SPIRIT GAME
The Boosters have also brought a new fundraising opportunity to the fans of our student-athletes at Jo Jo’s Sports Grille & Dominic’s at 221 South Jefferson Street. We’ve introduced a new pull tab game system which allows patrons to win prizes, which can be found near the front of the establishment. All the proceeds from the game go to benefit Medina’s student-athletes and the Medina Athletic Department in the purchasing of new uniforms, equipment and scholarships. Please stop by Jo Jo’s Sports Grille & Dominic’s and support our Bees.
MEDINA HURDLES THE COMPETITION
The Medina Boosters helped purchase new hurdles for the Boys and Girls track programs beginning with the 2021 track season.
RECONDITIONING OF HIGH SCHOOL AND CLAGGETT MIDDLE SCHOOL GYM FLOORS
In the summer of 2017, the Medina Boosters had the Medina Gym floor sanded, reconditioned, and re-designed. Thanks to our platinum sponsor Amy Hoes of Howard Hanna Realty, the same thing will be done of the Claggett Middle School gym floor in the summer of 2019. Want to help?
MEDINA SCORERS TABLE
The Medina Boosters were able to purchase a new state of the art scorers table to the Medina Gym thanks to the sponsorship of Lazor Insurance and Medina Alum Joe Lazor ‘83. The scorers table will be used for all volleyball, basketball, gymnastics and wrestling events, providing a modern feel to our contests and giving the Boosters another avenue for messaging for our Bees fans and community.
TRACK TIMING SYSTEM
The Boosters purchase a state of the art timing system to use for all our cross country and track events. Previously this system was rented, costing thousands of dollars. With the timing system now available, our teams and Athletic Department can now not only save that money, but also host bigger and better events.
TEAM UNIFORMS
The Medina Athletic Boosters replaces all team uniforms for all sports from middle school through high school every four years. To avoid buying all the uniforms at one time, Medina Boosters replaces uniforms on a rotational basis. Costs of the uniforms can total as much as $50,000 depending the sport and the amount of uniforms being purchased in a given year.
MEDINA FASTPITCH SCOREBOARD
In 2017, a new scoreboard was secured for the Medina Fastpitch Field with the help of the Medina Athletic Boosters
SOCCER SHELTERS
Along with our friends at Standard Welding and South of the Square Collision, the Boosters and the soccer programs came together to build sturdy aluminum team shelters for the Memorial Field. These shelters will keep our players out of the sun on the hottest days and the dry during those rainy nights.
ICE MACHINE
You wouldn’t think an ice machine wouldn’t be an important addition to the Athletic Department, but consider how many teams are practicing, lifting, or playing games at one time on a given day. The new ice machine produces hundred of pounds on any given day and it’s all being used to keep our student-athletes healthy and ready to play.
OTHER PROJECTS IN THE LAST FEW YEARS
New practice mats for wrestling which will also be used on the main floor during the Medina Invitational Tournament.
Helped fund payment of the multi-sport surface at Ken Dukes Stadium
Mobile Scoring Table for Lacrosse & Track.
Baseball Field Renovations
Football Sleds
High Jump Pit
